The Consumers Health Forum of Australia in April of 2013 found that Australia is one of the highest when it comes to out of pocket medical costs. Out of pocket cost is a term that refers to the costs that individuals will need to cover. Although Australia offers private health insurance and Medicare, there are many incidences where there are still gap fees that need to be covered. This research by the Consumers Health Forum of Australia looks into the average cost per person across the world.
