With Heart Disease dramatically fallen since 2002, Cancer is now one of the most common causes of death in Australia. The Australian Bureau of Statistics has recently revealed further information on the statistics of Australian deaths for 2011. An overwhelming amount of deaths were due to a large number of forms of Cancer including Lung Cancer.
In the research Causes of Death, Australia, 2011 , the Australian Bureau of Statistics outline that 1 in 5 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons (23%) died from from Cancer. This was a total of 128 accounted deaths in 2011, and is almost double that of non-Indigenous Australians.
Trachea, bronchus and lung cancers were highlighted as the top 3 forms of Cancer that contributed to Cancer being the fourth leading cause of death.
