National Close The Gap Day aims to raise awareness of the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health. This year, marks the 7th annual celebration with over 900 events across Australia to help promote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.
With it’s biggest campaign yet, National Close The Gap Day is supported and created by the International aid organisation Oxfam Australia in an effort to appeal to the Australian government for “Indigenous health equality”. Their aim is to close the gap between other Australians and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within 25 years. As a result, 140,000 local Australians who support the campaign can create community events to help bring awareness of the campaign. You will find events in community halls, schools and community centers across Australia.
