It’s interesting to see how people view the world. With over 575,000 Australians completely blind or with a vision impairment, it is important to understand how people literally see. This is important because it is estimated that there will be a total of 801,000 Australians who will be blind or have a visual impairment by 2020.

We wanted to showcase the difference between 20/20 vision and the most common types of eye infections and diseases in Australia. These included Cataracts, Glaucoma and Diabetic Retinopathy. As you can see , there are big differences. The top five diseases however are Age-related Macular Degeneration, Cataracts, Diabetic retinopathy, Glaucoma and Refractive error.

Sometimes we can easily take it for granted the gift of eye sight. It is important to remember that there are many ways to ensure good eye health. Simple tips such as wearing sunglasses while outdoors, having short breaks if you are using the computer or laptop for long periods of time and even looking at what foods you are consuming. One of the most common impacts from Diabetes for example, is caused by poor health and diet.
