caz’S STORY
No surgeon in Australia is qualified to remove all the mesh and partial removal can actually cause more damage. Caz needs surgery in the USA to remove the mesh as soon as possible.
Caz had an operation in January this year to fix an incontinence problem that is common in women after childbirth.
For twelve years, Caz could not run or be physically active with her son so when a gynaecologist told her she could fix this with a simple non-invasive procedure called a TVT-O, Caz said yes!
Unfortunately this mesh implant immediately caused complications and Caz lives with daily nerve pain. She has also developed an autoimmune response and a skin disease which is incurable and is a possible reaction to the polypropylene mesh. Caz was not informed of the risk to the obturator fossa or the risk to the pudendal nerve.
She was also not informed of the possibility of a reaction to the chemicals in the mesh. Nor was she told that if there were complications, no surgeon in Australia is qualified to remove all the mesh and that partial removal can actually cause more damage.
Caz needs surgery in the USA to remove the mesh as soon as possible. Funds raised for Caz will go towards surgery, travel and flights.
