jacob’S STORY
Jacob was born with a very rare genetic disorder called möbius syndrome as well as Pierre robin. Jacob has very complex medical conditions due to this.
We are the Heffey family and we have a very special little boy Jacob Heffey.
Jacob was born with a very rare genetic disorder called möbius syndrome as well as Pierre robin. Jacob has very complex medical conditions due to this. Jacob is fed via peg tube as he does not have the ability to suck or swallow and he suffers from GORD so he is fed straight into his intestine continuously all day.
Jacob has a tracheostomy tube so that he can breathe and requires constant suctioning and permanent oxygen support. Jacob is three years old and has spent his entire life in hospital and regularly gets transferred to Sydney for extended icu visits. Jacob cannot communicate and has facial paralysis and it very delayed developmentally and is in a wheelchair.
Jacobs health has improved enough that we able to take him home during the day and can participate in early intervention services that help improve his abilities and quality of life. We are trying to purchase a van to get modified to cater to Jacobs needs so that we can safely transport him to early intervention therapy appointments and to and from home. This will also be vital for our family when Jacob can be discharged from hospital as he will have a lot of specialist medical appointments and therapy services I will need to take him to.
We are trying to raise funds to purchase this van $40000 from freedom motors who specialise in modified vehicles. If you require anymore information please let me know.
