Simon's GBM Treatment

My beloved uncle has an aggressive form of brain cancer and the medical treatments are not covered by insurance. I’m pledging to cut off my VERY long hair and trying to raise funds for my aunt and uncle to afford treatment and recovery.

I am raising funds towards medical costs for my beloved uncle who was rushed to hospital on 18th September 2014 unconscious. After tests it became apparent he had a tumour; it was ‘mostly’ cut out in an emergency surgery. Since then he has been in recovery from the surgery and had to start various treatment for the brain cancer they discovered. He hasGlioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) Brain cancer, it is an aggressive form of brain cancer that grows in tumour form quickly and requires different treatments. Some is partially covered and some are very expensive and not covered by Medicare for his grade go GBM.

 

I am trying to support my Auntie Mem and Uncle Simon through this difficult time as she is now his full time carer, he is having a daily battle with surgery recovery and the various treatment side effects; their lives have been turned completely upside down. They live in Brisbane, thousands of kms away from majority of family who would otherwise be there to pitch in.

 

My story. This is where it gets a bit vain. I have been growing my hair since my last brutal cut (failed perm in 2008 left me with a ‘hey you look like the chick from fight club’ kind of rough cut) for about 7 years. Only had small necessary trims since 2008 and it has gotten quite long. Please see photo if you don’t believe me! To show my support two fold, I am raising money for my Uncle Simon’s medical bills AND will cut off my pony tail (at least 12 inches) to donate it to a wonderful organisation who make wigs.

 

If I raise over AUD15,000 in donations, I will shave it off. Challenge Accepted!

 

I can do this however you want, but unless the money raised is equal to or more than $15,000,  I’m getting a cute short bob.
