TEBAKOR SECONDARY COLLEGE’S STORY

Cyclone Pam has ravaged the small island of Vanuatu, leaving most without homes, food, water and home comforts. Not only the people, but their livestock, pets and food sources have been stripped from them, leaving some with nothing. I’m asking for help. Please help me support the children and their families as they now start to rebuild their lives. Help me raise money to support students with their school fees, uniforms, food, shelter in this time of turmoil.

After the current destruction and chaos cyclone Pam has left, Vanuatu is now having to undergo a major clean up.

Some 11 years ago my parents funded the opening of a secondary school on the Island of Efate, close to the city centre of Port Vila. Every time I travel back over I witness a countless number of children still not attending regular schooling.  Now in the wake of a cyclone, I fear for the safety and well being of our friends and students. At this time we’re still unclear as to the extent of damage done to the school and surrounding areas. I can only hope and pray that the attending students and teachers have been able to find shelter in this scary time of danger and uncertainty. Not only do the people of Vanuatu now have to rebuild homes, businesses and their lives, but the lack of good food and clean water will become a big problem. The majority of food grown in their gardens will have been destroyed, such as Bananas, Papaya, Coconuts and countless other fruits and vegetables.  I’m putting it to my friends, family and general public, please dig deep in these hard times even here in Australia, and generously give, something, anything, for those who may now have nothing. All money donated to this cause will be taken to the Tebakor Secondary School in Port Vila and used for helping the children with either school fees, clothing, shoes, food, medical aide or bus fares for transportation etc. No monies will be used for airfares to the island, building repairs etc – it’s all for the children!I pray that we may be able to assist the people of Vanuatu in this time of sadness and loss. For more information, please feel free to email helpinghandvanuatu@gmail.com
